Our History

My name is Lindy Barrett-Grove.  I was born Lindy Quast in Chicago, Illinois.  I started bringing home lost and injured animals when I was just a child, but I consider my first real 'rescue' to be an abused and starving dog I named Fergie.  Fergie was my friend and companion for more than 14 years. Sadly, she passed away in 2004.  Over the last 20 years, I have taken in hundreds of animals and have been able to pair many of them with their perfect human companions.

In 2002, my family and I expanded to our current location in the Snellville/Conyers area, 30 miles east of Atlanta, Georgia.  The animals now have four acres on which to run and play.  Every animal that comes into our program has a HOME FOR LIFE if it does not get adopted.  We do not euthanize animals to make space for others which means that we are almost always at capacity.  When we do have a spot available, we save another pet from death row - usually from a rural Georgia high-kill animal control facility.
We DO NOT accept pets from the general public: sadly, there are just too many of these requests.

Past residents of our sanctuary have even included critters such as raccoons, turtles, birds, opossums, rabbits, goats, and pigs.  Until 2006 we cared for these stray and injured animals entirely on our own with no financial assistance from outside sources.  In September of '06 we became incorporated as a non-profit organization, became a State-licensed animal shelter, and were granted tax exempt
(501(c)3) status by the IRS, thus allowing us to solicit tax-deductible donations from family, friends, and fellow animal-lovers.  Even so, finding sufficient funds to care for 30+/- ill and/or aging animals is always a challenge.  If you support what we do and would like to help a sick or elderly pet, please see our donation options on our Home Page.

 Our Vision

To create a sanctuary where animals are well fed, well loved, and unafraid.
T
o promote understanding and compassion between humans and animals.
To do our part in helping to eliminate the pet-overpopulation epidemic in Georgia by spaying and neutering every dog and cat that comes through our gate.
In short, to create a better world from our little corner of Georgia.
